There are many varieties in each group to chose from so it is pretty easy to incorporate more of them into your diet. Many are best eaten raw and that is the best nutrition but cooked slightly will still get you added nutrients.
Nutritious Leafy Green Vegetables
Leafy green vegetables have an abundance of heathy nutrients and each have different amounts of nutrition. The vegetables in this category are all kinds of lettuce, chards, beet greens, kale, parsley, spinach, arugula, cilantro, and collards, There are more kinds of greens that grow wild but these are the ones most used and grown in gardens. One of the main benefits of this group of vegetables is that they are all very high in chlorophyll. Pure all organic super foods are a great way to get fabulous nutrition added into smoothies or other foods.
Chlorophyll inhibits bacterial growth and reduces inflammation for wounds. It also contain high antioxidants to protect cells and aid in detoxifying the body. They have used green plants for centuries to prevent anemia and build red blood cells. You can get chlorophyll from the leafy greens or if you have a health issue then it is sold in liquid form that works quicker if needed. Juicing is also a great way to increase more vegetables in your diet.

GOOD news for those of you out there that do not like vegetables there are combinations of all greens that are sold in powder, capsule or tablet form. They will give you the same benefits but you will lose the benefits of fiber that raw vegetables provide. Remember if you do not take enough of these supplements daily you will not get the full benefits.
Nutritional values of leafy green are vitamins, essential fatty acids, and many minerals like magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium. Vegetable and especially the leafy greens help to balance the PH of the body so you can absorb more minerals and reduce acid and in turn get rid of some of those aches and pains. Also remember that ocean plants also provide a wealth of nutrition.
Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetable are broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, garden cress, brussels sprouts, arugula, radishes, collard green and cabbage. These natural health foods are high in vitamins and mineral and indole-3-carbinol that is the main constituent that help to prevent cell proliferation. These vegetable are also easy to get in the diet on a daily basis. The protection these vegetables provide even for a small amount eaten daily are natural health foods that should not be ignored.
Root Vegetables
Root vegetables have different nutrition but best of all they are usually lower in calories and higher in antioxidants. They also have many vitamins, mineral, and trace mineral. Many of the root vegetable are high in carbohydrates so for those that have blood sugar issues be cautious. Beet are the number one root vegetable as they have high fiber, folate, manganese, magnesium, iron, Vitamin C and potassium. So you can see they are a valuable source of nutrition. You can get them in your diet easily by juicing them, raw on salads, pickled, or cooked and seasoned.
Besides beets there are many other root veggie to choose from, carrot (high beta carotene), turnips, rutabagas, potatoes, yam and sweet potatoes, leeks, and onions. Because of the higher carbohydrate content it is best to eat these less often and more of the leafy greens

Get out your cookbooks and try something new, if you are not already easting most of these. In a nutrition class we were challenged to try one new vegetable each week, and that proved really interesting. Choose natural foods for vibrant health. Sometimes you think you have tried them all but just remember there are vegetables from different cultures and some growing wild. Be brave, try them afraid, you will find some you like and some you will never try again, other may think they are delicious.
There are only a few vegetables that fall into the edible stock but again they provide us many health benefits. Foods found in this group are onions, celery, chives and leeks. Onions are nutrient-dense so while being high in vitamins and mineral they are very low in calories and can be added into soups, stews, and baked meats. They are extremely good for heart health, high in antioxidants, and has antibacterial properties. Onions provide a good source of potassium, they are also rich in B vitamins that support the nervous system, metabolism, red blood cell production, and they are powerful antioxidants.
Celery provides a good amount of natural sodium that is important for the balance of electrolytes. Leeks have similar nutrients as onions. and this whole group of foods all contain high allium which protects cells.
Fabulous Healthy Berries-Real Natural Health Foods
Natural health foods would not be complete if we don’t mention berries, melons, and fruits. Berries are some of the highest antioxidant foods we have and the darker the color the better nutrition and protection. Some of the most popular are blueberries, blackberries, marionberries, boysenberries, elderberries, huckleberries ,cranberries, raspberries and strawberries.
They all provide protection for cells and a great addition to a healthy diet. These are so easy to incorporate into a natural health food diet, they work wonderfully in smoothies (there is better nutrition if eaten raw), many are used in baked goods, syrups, cold and flu tinctures. Besides the high antioxidant value they have antibacterial and antiviral properties, some being much high in these properties than others. They support a healthy immune system and very good nutritional benefits.

Pit fruits all have a pit or seed and they include prunes, plums, peaches, apricots, cherries ,mangoes, and avocados. These also are easy to eat fresh, add to smoothies or used in baking. Core fruits are like apples, pears, and loquats, these usually have smaller seeds in the core. These fruits are more dense and provide addition fiber and pectin. Usually eaten raw but also used in baking but once cook some food value is lost.

Melons are a very good choice because of their high water content. They are low in calories and will fit in almost any diet you might be on. They contain a good amount of nutrition and you can eat a larger portion without added calories. Honeydew is low in sodium and rich in potassium. Watermelons are my favorite and I really love them juiced with a little ice, it makes a really refreshing drink. They are higher in water than most other melons so usually lower in calories and because most people eat it fresh all the nutritional value is there to be absorbed easily.

You can see why fruits and vegetables are really natural health food and even if you are not vegan these foods are easy to implement into a healthy lifestyle. It will serve your well on your journey to improve health. A diet high in fruits and vegetables can help any health issue you may have. If we give the body the proper nutrition it will use those nutrients to strengthen organs and seek to restore things back to their healthy balance.
My journey was to get rid of pain and if I stray to far from a natural foods diet my body lets me know to get right back to a nutrient rich diet and keep my PH close to 7. When I do this I am very good and live pain free. Some of you may be on medication that you have to take and of course they will all be acid so it takes a bit more work if you are seeking to relieve pain.
